Police apologize after patrol car nearly strikes bicyclists

MILTON, Ga. – The Milton Police Department is apologizing to a group of cyclists after one of its officers nearly hit one of the riders last weekend.

Last Saturday, cyclists with the Giovanni Tile and Design bike team in Roswell were training in north Fulton County a patrol car came too close for comfort. The incident was captured on video and posted to YouTube.

While online reaction to the near-miss was swift and at times harsh, the team says they are not angry at the police, especially after the chief personally promised to retrain his officers on bike safety. That includes the 3-foot rule and knowing exactly when it's safe to pass.
